What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a clear, removable aligner that can be taken out for eating and brushing. You wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, brush and floss. Then you switch to the next set of aligners in your treatment plan until you have straightened all your teeth. It’s simple! You won’t even notice it’s there!

Invisalign clear braces are a discreet, effective, and comfortable solution for aligning teeth. With no metal brackets or wire, they’re the perfect choice for adults who have put off treatment for years as well as parents exploring dental care treatment options for their teenagers.

Invisalign clear aligners are made from FDA-approved BPA-free flexible plastic, and they are far more comfortable than traditional metal braces. Framingham Dentists create customized clear aligners that are used to straighten your teeth and give you the beautiful smile you’ve always wanted.

Invisalign treatment can be a great solution for adults and teens. It is easy to see when you wear braces because they are on your teeth. But with Invisalign, only the aligners are visible. You can fix problems that straighten teeth or change the bite without interrupting your life.

Process

If you want to get Invisalign, Framingham Dentists need to know your teeth. The Invisalign process begins with our doctors creating a map of your mouth and a digital treatment plan with step-by-step transformations. We’ll take x-rays and look at them with a 3D model of your teeth. Then we’ll send the information off to the lab so they can make custom aligners for you. When you put the aligner in, it will change how your teeth are positioned. You can see this on your 3D model every day as it changes over time.

Once you approve your plan, the dentist will make a special set of aligners for you. You will wear them every day for 20 to 22 hours, and take a new set every 1-2 weeks. Every 4 to 6 weeks you will have to come in person for our doctors to check the progress of your teeth. They will help to move your teeth so they can come into place and look better than ever!

The length of treatment depends on many factors, like how complicated your problem is and how often you wear your aligners. Your doctor will tell you exactly how long your treatment will take based on what they find out about you. On average, Invisalign treatments can take from 12 to 18 months. You may start seeing results as soon as a few weeks after starting the treatment.

Aftercare for Invisalign

When you clean your aligners, you can brush them with a toothbrush and toothpaste, then rinse them in lukewarm water. Do not use hot water on your aligners as it could warp the plastic permanently. Make sure to brush your Invisaligns after every meal before putting them back in your mouth.

It is very important to always keep your aligners clean and hygienic before placing them in your mouth. Invisalign cleaning crystals will help you keep your aligners clean, it will also remove plaque from them for you! You should not use hot water on the aligners because they could warp the plastic permanently.

If you lose or break an Invisalign aligner, tell your doctor about it right away. Your doctor will work with you to get the aligners fixed so that you can stay on track with your treatment plan. This may mean wearing a previous set of aligners, the next set of aligners, or ordering new ones.
